The pygmy corydoras (Corydoras pygmaeus) is a tiny, peaceful freshwater catfish that brings movement to planted aquariums. Unlike many larger corydoras that spend most of their time near the substrate, pygmy corydoras frequently swim in the middle of the water column, sometimes hovering together like a small school of tetras. Their small size makes them…
At just 0.8 inches (2 cm) long, the ember tetra (Hyphessobrycon amandae) is one of the smallest freshwater fish commonly kept in home aquariums. Its warm orange coloration stands out in planted tanks, particularly when a group swims over dark substrate. However, its tiny size also affects feeding, tank mate selection, and the type of…

It is a popular choice for community aquariums, but proper neon tetra care requires stable water conditions, a suitable school, and compatible tank mates. Although these fish are relatively easy to keep in an established…

Different Lake Malawi populations can look…

This is a small fish with very big cichlid behavior. It digs sand, moves shells,…
Neolamprologus leleupi is one of those Tanganyika cichlids that looks deceptively simple. A yellow fish, a pile of rocks, some hard water, and you might think the setup is straightforward. In practice, the hard part is managing territory. This species can reach about 10–12 cm, lives around rocky areas of Lake Tanganyika, and becomes particularly…
